How to Be A Productive Entrepreneur

A productive entrepreneur is a happy entrepreneur. It stands to reason; if you are doing everything you need to do as efficiently as possible, you will be able to make more money – more orders will go out, more people will be sold to, and more deals will be made. This is what puts a smile on an entrepreneur’s face, so it all makes sense.

What might not make so much sense, however, is exactly how to be a productive entrepreneur. It often feels as though the very definition of entrepreneur is someone who is as busy as possible running every single element of their business from morning until night, fighting fires and not getting a huge amount done.

It doesn’t have to be like this. There are ways in which an entrepreneur can be productive and successful; read on to find out what some of them are.

Give Yourself Artificial Deadlines

Entrepreneurs will all have a lot in common. From a superstar like Gurbaksh Chahal to someone who has never run a business before but knows they can, everyone works in the same way. For most entrepreneurs, then, having a deadline is something that focuses the mind and increases productivity.

Of course, when you work for yourself, there aren’t always deadlines imposed, and the tasks that don’t have deadlines are the ones that can linger, causing problems with productivity and stopping you from truly moving forward. When this happens, try imposing artificial deadlines on yourself. Despite knowing that these deadlines are technically real and that nothing untoward will happen if you miss them, the idea of that deadline will sharpen up your actions and spur you on. It’s an easy trick, but one that is worth trying if you’re getting stuck.

Put The Phone Down

As an entrepreneur, it will often feel as though you are always needed. Someone is constantly trying to reach you or take up your time in some way. Sometimes this will be essential, and other times it will be something that could wait. The problem is, we usually make things worse for ourselves, and the stress levels will start to build.

The problem is our smartphones. Because we have them with us all the time, it is virtually impossible to really disconnect from the world and take some time to reassess, regroup, and relax. Yet when we don’t do these things, burnout can happen quickly, and productivity will go right down. Even if we feel we are busy, that won’t mean we get anything done.

Taking real breaks is vital. As hard as it might seem, leaving your cell in another room or even switching it off when you need just 10 or 15 minutes to yourself is the best way to do this. Rather than check your emails, update your business’s social media feed, or make that phone call you’ve been putting off, you can sit and meditate, listen to music, read a book, or literally do nothing. Once you return to work, this self-imposed phone break will have done you a world of good, and you’ll be a lot more productive.

Delegate

One of the biggest lessons any entrepreneur must learn if they want to be successful and productive is how to delegate. By passing various tasks to other team members, you can concentrate on what you do best, and you won’t be dragged down by everything else. Hire people who are experts in their field, and the work will be done faster to a higher standard than if you tried to do it all yourself anyway.

If you don’t have any staff, don’t worry; you can outsource the work, and it will have the same effect.

Be Proactive

One of the best traits any entrepreneur can have is being proactive. It allows you to create your path to entrepreneurial success and, most importantly, keeps you prepared for unforeseen circumstances. For example, a proactive entrepreneur who runs a trucking or logistics business would know to have a truck accident lawyer on speed dial in case of any accidents. That way, they would always be one step ahead in emergencies.
